Supporting Projects Which Enrich People’s Lives in Kamloops and Around the World

Council of Canadians -Kamloops Chapter

What is it?  An incentive by School District 73 and the Council of Canadians  (Kamloops Chapter) to grow school gardens.

How Does it Work? Backed by SD 73 and this program, schools are enabled to build gardens (in-ground or raised beds). Resource people can be accessed, construction materials provided, soil, soil amendments, seeds and seedlings, tools and resource materials purchased.

For the price of  a good bottle of wine

you can help to make a garden in

 every school a reality.

What are the Benefits? Children today are out of touch with where their food comes from. Gardening is an excellent tool to teach not only the basics of science, but also the value of conservation, principles of organic agriculture, the value of food security, alternatives to pesticides and the goodness of nutritious, garden- fresh food.

Lifetime skills and personal assets such as self-sufficiency, cooperation, independence and self-worth are gained through helping to nurture seeds through to food.

How Can You Help? Every gift certificate purchased through the Alternative Gifts Programme  helps to fund new gardens, instruction, materials as well as plants and seeds.
